Bio

Mike Salamone is a music educator and marching arts designer based in Rotterdam, New York. He graduated from Ithaca College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education and later earned a Master’s Degree in Music Education from Ithaca College’s Summer Master’s Program in 2022. Mike was hired as the Mohonasen High School Band Director in the Spring of 2022.

 

Mike currently directs the Mohonasen High School Concert Band and Jazz Band. He serves as the Assistant Marching Band Director for the Mohonasen Marching Band, the 2023 NYSFBC Small School 3 Champion.

 

Additionally, Mike is the Coordinator of Indoor Marching Activities, overseeing Mohonasen’s Indoor Percussion Theater group, and Mohonasen's four different winter guards. Mike's groups routinely perform in concerts, competitions, and ensemble festivals, both locally and internationally.

Mike started designing soundtracks for various dance companies and color guards in 2022. The groups he has designed soundtracks for have gone on to win competitions, receive competitive recognition, and most importantly, bring pride to their organizations. He has since delved into the world of show and drill design. Mike currently writes drill for the Mohonasen Indoor Percussion Theater and the Schalmont Marching Band. Mike has a hand in the design process of all of Mohonasen's marching arts groups.

 

Mike currently serves as the President of the Schenectady County Music Association and is a Board Member of the Mid-York Color Guard Circuit.

 

Mike is very proud of his musical community; he holds great pride in being an alumnus of his current school district. In his free time, Mike enjoys spending quality time with close friends, being outdoors, and frequenting his local Taco Bell!
